about

This track challenges the perception that the "Burbs" are "all candy and cake." The stories told in the three verses are actual things J Rob and OtherWise have encountered growing up.

lyrics

Chorus x 2
Everyone think the burbs are all candy and cake
But it's a damaging place where sanity's fake
And everyone knows Appearances can be deceiving
But where I'm from, there the only thing people believe in

J ROB Verse 1:
Sarah wakes up, no stawberry yogurt, just pilates and yoga
And she's hardly a grown up
Cause what she sees in the magazines,
Is what she thinks that she has to be
Barely 13 with an eating disorder
And nobody there that she needs to support her
Her parents are obsessed with their careers it would seem
Their love affair with the American Dream buries their teen
They can't even hear if she screams, and she never does eat
But that's hidden by their BlackBerry screens
Now long is how she's wearing her sleeves
Cause she don't care if she bleeds
In fact, when she holds the blade, Her soul escapes
into the Air that she breathes
So they Buy her shoes, a couple new pairs and some jeans
But She needs nothing but help
And the only thing that makes her feel alive is cutting herself
How fucked up is wealth?

Chorus x2
Everyone think the burbs are all candy and cake
But it's a damaging place where sanity's fake
And everyone knows Appearances can be deceiving
But where I'm from, there the only thing people believe in

OtherWise Verse 2:
Kevin's an only child with a broken smile
Might in fact, hide the crap, that his shoulders pile
This teenager seems gleam,
Keeps anger deep anchored
Hidden by flesh, wishin for death in each prayer
He dreams of this happy place
Where he's a cast away
And popularity doesn't control what path he takes
So he can walk alone
His father's a good mess,
They talked at home, He doesn't want to follow his footsteps
Just wants to live without the pressure to meet
Every single standard in his parents precious beliefs
But the stress and the anger he suppresses is danger-
Ous so the drugs are to better the strange urge
He gets where he just wants to hurt all his peers
And his parents cause they made him feel worthless for years
Cause no matter what he did they just shout at him
And no matter what he does they're never proud of him

J Rob Verse 3:
Known all over town
He was a gentleman from sole to crown
Inspired those who were oh so down
They would See him in that 7 series BM,
Wish that they could be him...
Got A scholar daughter, and his Son's the star QB,
And if this is the only thing that we are to see
Arguably,
If we add in his perfect wife,
Then on the surface its the perfect life
But his Son's juicing
It's a dangerous course he's on
Girls say say no, then he's raping and forcing em
Daugther's on Crystal Meth and
If she found out it would hurt her mom
But who do you think that she learned it from?
Got Fired, down to to his last move
Mortgage has been way past due,
So what's a dad to do?
To erase his riddled past
It'll take one little Pistol Blast...
The death of Mr. Middle Class
